Brand new Santigold!!! "Your Voice"
Following up on her self entitled debut last year, Santigold formally known as “Santogold” unleashes her latest piece entitled, “Your Voice” The lyrics may sound familiar, as a somewhat punk variation did appear on her last album which included her original band, Stiffed. Nevertheless, this new song arrangement and instrumentation definitely give this record a course of its own. Stay tuned for some interesting projects in 2009 from Santigold.

Bobbito Garcia is the man!
Bobbito on Dead Jam from Gasface on Vimeo.
Bobbito's Nuyorican State Of Mind from Gasface on Vimeo.
END OH YEAH: Bobbito talks about his past at Def Jam, and coming up in NY during the "golden era" of hip hop. From how he went from the mailroom to an A&R position at Def Jam. And why he didn't give Russell Nas's Illmatic demo. To how he got the name "Bobbito the Barber".
Though it may not be a smooth process, to have daily operations to accomplish is a blessing. Curve balls add excitement and provide the opportunity to strengthen ones problem solving skills.
"Every man do them thing a little way different"- Israel Vibration said it best! With this fact comes the possible clash of "m.o.'s", modes of operation. Frustration blinds judgment, and can bring about irrational actions. Controlled breathing and realistic, mature thought can curb the results of frustration.
At the end of the day we are all here to serve a purpose. We may not have a full understanding of what purpose a certain person or incident may serve in our life. Savor the moment, the experience and analyze with clear eyes. Love and trust have become a far and fleeting occurrence in the present day, or at least their advertisement or stature in society has been overshadowed by their opposites.

20/20 Hip-Hop Special From 1981
END OH YEAH: 20/20 Hip-Hop Special From 1981
Now this is some great footage. I was over @ RAP RADAR and spotted this wonderful time capsule. My, how we have changed as hip hop artists, and so called "outsiders". The lines and boundaries defining our positions is being further and more aggressively blurred, as technology, wealth and access to information grow. Take a quick trip back in time.

MarQ Spekt’s GUILTY PARTY FREE DOWNLOAD
END OH YEAH: MarQ Spekt’s GUILTY PARTY FREE DOWNLOAD
For the past decade MarQ Spekt has been underground hip-hop’s Bobby Fischer. Popping up on tracks and ripping them to shreds before melting back into the night. Half-myth, half-legend, Spekt has somehow been a part of every significant movement in the east-coast underground for ten years, without ever fully emerging from the shadows. Originally signed to Subverse with MF DOOM and The Micronauts, his 2001 Liquid Smoke b/w Shoplifter 12″ is an Ebay classic. Add to that his blazing cameos on Big Jus’ [Company Flow] albums, the Broady Champs group album that dropped on Day by Day Entertainment at the height of their success, and his never-officially-released Pretty Weapons solo album, and you have the makings of an underground legend. In 2008, Spekt stepped out of the shadows and teamed up with prolific NYC fixture, Karniege, as the Invizzibl Men. The result was a futuristic banger of an album, The Unveiling, that sported guest spots from Cannibal OX, C-Rayz Walz and Billy Woods, amongst others.
Now Backwoodz Studioz is proud to present Guilty Party, a brand new collaborative project with MarQ Spekt and producer Lex Boogie From the Bronx. One producer, one MC; Guilty Party is a stylistic return to the gritty mid-nineties basement sessions that Spekt hones his craft in. It’s a return to lo-fi, extra filthy samples and hard-as-granite lyrics. Spekt is an Mc’s MC, but on this project he expanded his palette by co-producing beats with Lex Boogie as the two came to boil down the essence that is Spekt.
MarQ put it best saying “This free album is a dedication to raw hip-hop coming from the heart. No million dollar studio tricks or Autotune, or even big name collaborations. This is just sky diving with the pen.”- Backwoodzstudioz

FLOATIN...Stacy Epps Video Shoot
END OH YEAH:FLOATIN...Stacy Epps Video Shoot
"The Gritty Committee was in the building for the Stacy Epps Video shoot for her smash single “FLOATIN” produced by Apex. The vibe on set was truly a breathe of fresh air. Not only did Stacy kill the Video shoot after previously performing for a packed house at Atlanta’s Own @the Bench and murdering the stage there, she bought that same raw energy to the Roof Tops of the Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts in Atlanta, GA where the Shoot took place.
The wealth of support given by the Atlanta Hip-Hop Underground was self-evident at the shoot. Legends Like Marq Spekt (Broady Champs),BINKIS Recs, Dres tha Beatnik, and StaHHr the Femcee just to name a few, came out to show Support.
Over the years, Stacy has established a globally reaching reputation for sonic excellence in the underground hip hop community lending her vocals to projects for artist such as Madlib, MF DOOM, OH NO, Wildchild, J Rawls and Scienz of Life and now her own debut solo album “The Awakening”. Like the releasing of a balloon she shows and proves that it is only up from here…"-MeedyMek
